As more and more espresso machine owners become increasingly
aware of the fine art of espresso, the desire has grown for espresso
machines with superior components to achieve that espresso nirvana.
These machines typically offer improved temperature stability with
commercial sized filter handles, larger boilers, more reliable pressure
regulators, and some with automatic refills of the internal boiler.
These machines are classified as semi-commercial to commercial.
A high quality burr coffee grinder is necessary to get the best
results out of these machines, and most of these machines require
open head (except Pasquini and Nuova Simonelli) clearance to avoid
a dry up of the cupboards. |
Elektra
The Elektra series is the start of this grouping. These machines
feature a top loaded water basin that feeds both the boiler for
refill (manual operator refill) and the grouphead directly to insure
that fresh water is used to extract espresso. The commercial sized
filter handles are ergonomically designed to provide a good fit
to a nice feel, and steam is immediately capable after extracting
your espresso. The temperature is directly related by control of
the pressure with the pressure regulator. The operator does need
to watch the gauge glass to ensure that there is enough water in
the boiler.

| Bezzera
Looking for the lowest-priced and highest
quality heat exchange espresso machine? look no further! With the
similar internal components as the Pasquini Livia 90, a Bezzera
espresso machine will not disappoint!
Four models to
choose from! |
Pasquini
The Pasquini Livia 90 has been
a champion for the last several years. Sporting a stainless steel
body and steel frame, the ruggedness of the Livia 90 is seen throughout
- a large copper boiler, heavy filter handle, and brass grouphead.
The newest feature si the multi-directional steam wand which allows
the steam wand to go in many directions. With the ability to instantly
steam milk, it can froth for many cappuccinos and steam for a good
number of lattes. While the machine can be left on all day, it is
ready to go within the 10 minutes it needs to get properly heated.
In this grouping, the Livia 90 has the best water flow out of the
water arm. |
Isomac
Isomac is one of the few manufacturers that has maintained several
machines in their line up for our Professional class. They include
the Isomac Mondiale, the Isomac
TEA, and the Isomac Millenium.
All three machines share the same boiler, water reservoir, pump,
and Giemme auto water refill circuit. The Isomac Relax has an unexposed
E-61 type grouphead whereas they are exposed (and one can burn thyself).
We like the fact that Isomac includes a water softener inside their
professional machines. |
ECM
ECM has manufactured a favorite for many home espresso machine
lovers who desire an ECM Giotto. The ECM
Giotto has one of the largest boilers (2nd to la Pavoni above)
which provides lots of steam capacity to make your favorite cappuccino.
With the right sized cup warmer and large 3 liter water reservoir,
the ECM Giotto is ready to make espresso after espresso.

Al di la Vittoria
The Valentina is the cream of the crop for our Professional home
line of espresso machines. Sporting a stainless steel body, la
Valentina houses a full size pressure regulator for the boiler
and a Gicar auto water refill circuit (considered top of the line)
- both of which are found on the larger two group espresso machines
found in coffee houses today. With a low 10 minute warm up time,
La Valentina has an E-61 grouphead that consistently allows water
to circulate inside the grouphead. |
Vibiemme
KING OF THE HILL! these big, bad machines really pound out the
competition with a heavier grouphead, a larger boielr, and high
quality components position correctly for longer lasting, trouble-free
use. There are 3 versions available in 2 body styles.
